About

I enjoy photography and capturing landscapes of the Norfolk Broads and the East Anglian Coastline.

Living close to Norwich, Norfolk ( UK ) gives me a good choice of material, both natural and man made.

I often wonder about the quality of my work and puzzle over how to develop a unique photographic style. There may be no simple answer, is it practice and application or a forlorn hope. I have however come to the conclusion that I need to avoid taking photographs that other photographers have taken before me. By making that statement I mean the taking of familiar subjects that have been done to death ie. "How many more times can I take a photograph of Horsey Mill and make it significantly different to anything that has already been done". This comment is aimed at my work and mine alone as other Photographers will clearly have different opinions and rightly so.

Please note that a lot of the work posted to this website clearly contradicts the comments made in the previous paragraph.

So, from now on I'm going to visit locations that give some scope for originality and if they can be improved by the use of photoshop then I'll do it. I do however feel that digital enhancements need to be true to the original photograph.
'You cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear' comes to mind or in computer terms 'Garbage in, garbage out' !
